I try not to post a lot of covers here, but I thought this turned out OK. The song is from the movie The Alamo, made famous I think by The Brothers Four. I was asked to do it for the funeral of a friend’s husband; this was their courting song.
Here’s a little happy/dorky tune that I wrote as part of fawm.org (Feburary Album Writing Month) this year. A little fancier version will appear on the annual compilation CD of the Pittsburgh Songwriters’ Circle. I’m looking forward to it!
Here are a couple of songs that I like to play together. The first is one that I wrote in a hotel room as I was learning to play the banjo, named after the location of the hotel: Washington DC. The second is an old-time Appalachian dance/fiddle tune, Camp Meeting on the Fourth of July.
I wrote this one last fall, looking for something uplifting. Little did I know the pandemic would hit in the spring! It was so fun to set up this video with Ellen Gozion, as well as photographs from my friends Robin Mejia and Kirk Thoma!
