*Whew*… The holidays are over! I hope you found some joy and rejuvination in your December, and I look forward to seeing you now in the New Year!
December!
I had a lot of fun playing at the Ruckus Café on December 15 with Susan Spangler! It is always such a great space, with wonderful owner and host Chris Rauktis.
Following that there were a couple of last-minute gigs that were also a blast! I played banjo in an old-time group for an old-time square dance on December 21 and I played Hugh Prestwood’s ballad “Upon a Christmas Eve” on December 24 at the First Unitarian Church. Then on December 29 I got to play my song “The Week Between The Years” and the old-time tune “Breakin’ Up Christmas” also at the Unitarian Church on December 29.
January!
January brings two great harmony singing events!
On Monday January 20 at 7:30pm, the 18th Annual Let Freedom Sing Concert celebrates the social justice legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Pittsburgh through vocal and instrumental music, as well as spoken word. Come to the Kelly Strayhorn Theater and listen, or come and sing (resources at letfreedomsing.net). Pay what moves you, and maybe bring a food donation for East End Cooperative Ministry. (I’ll be in the Tenor section!).
On Friday January 24, Joy Street returns to the Breezeway Home, 7113 Reynolds Street, 7:00pm! We’re looking forward to a cozy winter show in a delightfu space with delightful host Dennis Inserra! Susan, Deborah, Jan and BJ will be playing with our new cellist David Bennett and reuniting with singer Mary Fleck!
As always, check out brianjunkermusic.com for late breaking news and gigs.
See you out in the world!

PS – Great show coming up January 25 in the SongSpace at First Unitarian series, with Pittsburgh singer-songwriter Morgan Erina and Ohio singer-songwriter Chrissy Strong! |
